David Laird – The Balvenie Ambassador – Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland – an area steeped in whisky trading and blending – The Balvenie Brand Ambassador and academic David Laird brings years of experience with whisky on both sides of the bar, having managed and owned bars in Tennessee and Oregon. David is both a science fanatic and an avid soccer player, boasting two science degrees and a soccer scholarship that eventually brought him to the United States. His next journey led him to Portland, Oregon where he served as general manager of Whiskey House, leading the promotion and tastings for more than 250 whiskies, thus fueling his passion for the spirit. Though based in New York, David maintains his Scottish roots and academic fervor through his dedication to educating others about Scotch Whisky.
