Susan Tucker Jones is employed as a Senior Attorney for Client Advice with the Metropolitan Department of Law. She is blessed to have worked 15 years with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, 13 of which have been with the Metropolitan Department of Law where her legal practice focus is government representation in the areas of land use, regulatory, and legislation.
A Nashville native, Jones is a graduate of Hunter’s Lane Comprehensive High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication and Theater and her Master of Education Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University. She earned her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from The University of Tennessee College of Law.
Atty. Jones’s professional involvement has included serving as the President of the Napier-Looby Bar Association and the Co-Chair of the Government Lawyers’ Committee for the Nashville Bar Association. She is a 2015 graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law Program, has served as a CLE facilitator for the Tennessee Alliance for Black Lawyers, is a member of the Lawyers Association for Women, and the National Bar Association. Jones is, also, approved by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator and was named to “The Best of the Bar” by the Nashville Business Journal in 2017.
Active in her community, Atty. Jones is a Citizens’ Academy Graduate of both the Metro Nashville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Additionally, she is an active member at the Schrader Lane Church of Christ where she serves in various capacities including the Hospitality Committee, the Youth Task Force Committee, and as part of the volunteer staff for the Legal Clinic sponsored by the Lipscomb University’s Fred D. Gray Institute for Law, Justice, & Society and Schrader Lane Church of Christ.
Most important to Susan Tucker Jones is her family. She is blessed to be the mother of a wonderful son, Josiah, and has served as PTO President of Chadwell Elementary School as well as Team Mom with the Memphis Grizzlies’ Junior Grizzlies Basketball Program for the Metro Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball League. She is the daughter of Elder Jesse F. Tucker and Dr. Carolyn Baldwin Tucker.
