Edward C. Morant is founder and chief executive officer of Moraya Transportation, LLC., a non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) company launched in 2017. Moraya provides safe, compassionate and timely roundtrip transportation service to medical appointments for veterans, Medicare patients and other qualified patients with no means of transportation.
Morant launched Moraya after over 40 years of corporate experience with companies including Gallo Wines, S.C. Johnson & Son, The Maxima Corporation, and most recently, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) where he retired in 2015 after leading technical roles including program developer, project manager and interface engine development.
Morant began his career as a computer programmer after receiving certification from Strayer College in Washington, D.C. He later earned his Master of Arts degree from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Prior to joining Corporate America, Morant graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in music. He’s a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity where he’s held both regional and national positions. After leaving A&T, Morant served in the United States Army where he sang with the Soldier’s Chorus and toured the world as the first African American ever to be the featured vocalist with the Army Jazz Band.
Ever a servant to his community and man of faith, Morant is a proud member of Murfreesboro’s historic First Baptist Church East Castle Street where he served as minister of music until 2014. He and his wife Thaya Morant are the proud parents of six children (two of which are also members of Omega Psi Phi fraternity) and five grandchildren. They have lived in Murfreesboro together for over 25 years.
