Dwight Pope is an alumnus of Tennessee State University currently serving as the Spirit Coordinator and coach for the Dance and Cheer programs. He has judged national and international competition for several major cheerleading companies such as NCA, UCA, America’s Best, Champion Cheer, Spirit Unlimited, WSF Cheer, AmeriCheer & Dance and an alternate judge for World’s. Coach Pope’s Back to Basics Summer Cheer Camps for local high schools and middle schools fill quickly and ensure the continued growth and high standards of a sport to which he has dedicated countless hours and leadership.
Dwight Pope is the CEO and founder of Diavontti Productions, an organization whose mission it is to provide scholarship and opportunities for young African-American men and to allow them to have their platforms spread on a national level as well as organizing and performing community service projects. His talents don’t stop there and neither does his production work. He is sought after for his event and wedding planning, as well as his wardrobe and hair styling for many popular gospel artists and awards shows. His areas of expertise include stage management and talent escort for the Stellar awards, Allstate Super Gospel Fest, Super Bowl Gospel Fest and many more well-known productions. Not only has the awards show circuit benefited from his many talents but Barbizon and John Casablanca Training Centers have as well when he was a lead instructor training models for well-known companies like Ebony and the Sepia/Esquire tours.
As the Executive Director for the Mr. Tennessee Scholarship Pageant Pope has advised and served as the local and district chair for the Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Miss Black & Gold Pageant system, Alpha Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Miss Diamond Pageant, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sororities Mr. Ivy Pageant and Delta Sigma Thetas Mr. Crimson and Cream pageant. Advisor to Mr. & Miss Tennessee State University, co-advisor to Mr. & Miss Fisk University, consultant to Miss Africa USA, consultant to Miss Black Tennessee USA, and invited to be the director of the Miss Black Ambassador USA.
Lastly, he can currently be seen in a supporting role on seasons 2 and 3 of the reality show “Thicker than water” which airs on the Bravo Network. In his spare time, he can be found mentoring recording Jazz saxophone artist Marcus Johnson, Appeal founders and designers Adrian Winston and Darin Wyly, Diverse Inclusions Event owners Demetrius Patterson and Wes Carr just to name a few.
