Dr. DeAundra Jenkins-Holder is a native Nashvillian and a career educator with 25 years of service as a teacher, principal and professor. She earned a B.A. from Fisk University, and M.Ed. from the University of Minnesota, an Ed.S. and Ed.D. from Tennessee State University. She began her career in 1993, as the first and only African-American teacher in districts in Minnesota, and subsequently in Utah as well, before returning home to Nashville. She taught high school English and Afro-American studies at Hunters Lane High School, then she became Dean of Students at Maplewood High School. For the next three years, she served as assistant principal at Maplewood High School and was an integral part of the school’s successful academic turnaround. Her next administrative assignment was as assistant principal at Overton High School. In an attempt to rescue a failing minority charter school, she served as executive principal of Smithson-Craighead Academy Middle School. After a career in K12 education, Dr. Jenkins embarked on a career in higher education serving as an adjunct professor at Fisk University, Tennessee State University and American Baptist College before returning to the world of K-12 education. In January 2015, she established The Dream Fulfillment Center, Inc., (DFC) a non-profit organization designed to help women (and families) make their dreams a reality through education, networking and life-coaching. As the Founder and CEO of the DFC, Dr. Jenkins’ newest mission is ACT and GED Prep, tutoring k12 to college students as well as motivating women to reach their personal and professional goals. She a Christian, former Army soldier, a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Societas Doctas, Inc.. She is the mother of one son, Kobe. Ultimately, she firmly believes, “When kids win, we all win.”
