Richard E. Herrington is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Financial Network and Franklin Synergy Bank, (NYSE: FSB) headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee. Founded in November 2007, Franklin Synergy Bank is a community bank offering innovative, technologically-advanced banking services tailored to consumers, businesses, local government and non-profit organizations in Williamson, Rutherford and Davidson Counties.
In addition to founding Franklin Synergy Bank, Herrington co-founded Franklin National Bank, also in Franklin, Tennessee, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Franklin National’s holding company, Franklin Financial Corporation. He has also served at First American Bank in Nashville, Tennessee and Civitas BankGroup, parent of Cumberland Bank, in Franklin, Tennessee. L
Herrington received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina, and a master’s degree in economics from Florida State University. He is also a graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
Named to Who’s Who in US Commercial & Savings Banking, Herrington was a member of the first graduating class of Leadership Franklin. A past recipient of the Williamson County Chamber Presidential Award, he previously served as a Chamber Director and as Chamber Treasurer. In 2015, Herrington was named to the Nashville Business Journal’s Hall of Fame.
Herrington serves on the Board of Directors at Williamson Medical Center Foundation, and the Board of Directors of Leadership Franklin. He also serves as Board Chairman of Williamson Inc. Past Board service includes Battle Ground Academy, Columbia State Community Foundation, Franklin Tomorrow and Franklin First United Methodist Foundation.
