Certified Sommelier Mark Kremper fell in love with wine as a server at the Capitol Grill in the historic Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, TN. A table invited him to taste their 2007 “Pahlmeyer” cabernet blend, and the power of that sip was all it took to ignite his desire to learn all he could. He began studying in the Capitol Grill under Sommeliers Pete Holland and obtained his Introductory Certification in August of 2012.
In April of 2013, Mark had the opportunity of helping to open celebrity Chef Sean Brock’s Nashville location of Husk Restaurant. He was quickly recognized as an asset, and was invited to assist in running the beverage program. Studying under Kenny Lyons, he learned the art behind creating a wine list, and expanded his knowledge of the south’s beloved bourbon.
The following spring Mark went to work for legendary Nashville Chef Deb Paquette at Etch Restaurant. Co-owner Doug Hogrefe saw leadership in Mark, and called on him to become a manager in the fall. Invigorated to work in an environment full of passion for the palate, he studied zealously and became a Certified Sommelier in March of 2015.
As a manager at Etch, he happily wore the Sommelier pin while executing the wine and beverage program, and helping guests create a remarkable experience by pairing beautiful wines with spectacular cuisine.
In December of 2017, Mark accepted a position with Lipman Brothers as a Key Account Wine Manager for On-Premise. His passion for bringing good wine to good people continutes to grow as he works with the top restaurants in Nashville to provide their guests with the best wine experience possible by offering the incredible products that Lipman Brothers represents.
